Save the Date / Save the Planet!
Come join Our Forest Fund, Kitsap County Parks and other volunteers on Saturday Nov 25, 2023 9am-12noon, for a special work party to interplant trees in newly thinned areas of the PGFHP. The forest we will be working in is part of the 756 acres of trees which the community saved in 2022.
This is a great way to work off some of that Thanksgiving turkey and pie, while improving wildlife habitat and forest resiliency.
If you’ve never planted trees before, this is your opportunity to learn about restorative forestry! Arno Bergstrom, the county forester emeritus, along with several Kitsap Parks Forest Stewards will teach you all you need to know to plant a legacy.
Meet at the main PGFHP trailhead (Bayview) parking lot on Hwy 104 at 9am. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes or boots and work gloves. Bring water and snacks if you so desire. Hot cider will be provided!
If you have a narrow shovel, bring it along. Ten gallon buckets are helpful, too. See you there!
I am interested in helping plant trees on November 25 and would like more information and directions. Thank you!
Great! Glad you can make it! We will meet up at at 9am at the main parking lot/trailhead, known as Bay View, on Hwy 104.
