Save One Tree Each Month
Most of us are at peak “stuff” already. We don’t need more consumer things. But we do want to do something to alleviate climate change and leave the earth a little better by our actions.
Our Forest Fund has inaugurated its second tree campaign to save the remaining 1200 acres of trees which are still at risk of clearcut in the Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park. We are aiming to raise $1 million dollars to start.
In Our Forest Fund’s first tree campaign, the community came together to save 756 acres of trees, at a total purchase price of $4,425,000. At approximately 200 trees saved per acre, that averages out to about $29 per tree, which gave us this idea:
A Tree Subscription!
This holiday season, consider setting up a tax-deductible recurring donation of $29 a month to Our Forest Fund in the name of someone you care about. Every month, you’ll be saving a tree. We’re calling it a “tree subscription”.
- Just click the red “Donate Now!” tab at the bottom of the screen, then click on the green “I’m in!” button to jump to Our Forest Fund’s donation page at Kitsap Community Foundation.
- Set up a recurring donation of $29 (or more, if you like) with 2024 (or later) as the end date for your recurring donation.
- In the Note section, please put in the name and email of the person you are getting a tree subscription for, so we can send them a special e-card to let them know of your gift. If you have a special message you want to include in this card, put that in, too. Please let us know if you would like to have us send a Christmas themed e-card or a non-Christmas themed e-card.
It’s that easy! The trees you save will be cleaning and cooling the air, keeping water in the soil and the soil on the ground, providing food and habitat for wildlife, recreation and enjoyment for people, and oxygen for us all to breathe, now and forever. That’s a real gift!
