Let’s Put on Our Thinking Caps
The wheels of bureaucracy turn slowly, so the contract for the timber cruise of the Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park has just been signed. We hope that Kitsap County Parks, Forterra and Rayonier, Inc can agree upon a value for the available tracts of trees soon. That will give us a solid number to chase. As this is the last chance to avert the clearcutting of hundreds of acres of trees in the PGFHP, we will need you all to dig deep in your pockets to help save these trees.
Right now, we don’t know exactly how much each acre will cost. But we do know for sure that if we don’t buy the timber rights, these trees will be clearcut utterly. And that makes for really ugly park in our community for a long, long while.

There’s a theory that everyone on the planet is connected by just “6 degrees of separation”, that you know someone who knows someone who knows someone… for 6 steps (or fewer) to any other person in the world. That is, if you can figure out exactly which particular someones they are!

Think about who you know who cares about the environment. Who loves trees, nature, wildlife, fresh air and clean water. We need you to spread the word about this project and urge everyone you know to help out, either with funds, or with getting the word out.
Think about corporations or organizations you have worked for. Maybe they have a charitable giving program. Maybe you know someone (one of those particular someones) still working there and you can suggest they look into Our Forest Fund’s project to save trees. Maybe OFF’s mission works with their charitable goals?
We Have Another Matching Challenge!
We are thrilled to announce that our partner, Kitsap Environmental Coalition has laid down a $5,000 matching challenge: if Our Forest Fund supporters can raise $5,000, KEC will match it, thereby doubling the trees saved.
Are you in?
Then click the red DONATE NOW button below and be sure to note that you want your gift to be counted towards the KEC match. THANK YOU!
